Motif by Shelley Horan at Jacky Winter Gallery

Jacky Winter presents Motif by Shelley Horan, a still life series transforming the mundane into the mesmerising. Everyday objects—a toothpaste tube, a matchstick, a teapot—are meticulously arranged to spark surprise, curiosity, and delight.

Horan’s work thrives on contrast: the ordinary and extraordinary, rigid and fluid, playful and refined. Using materials like plastic, chrome, glass, and foodstuffs, she elevates the overlooked through precise composition and unexpected juxtapositions.

A jewel-like gloop of toothpaste gleams like a gem. Matchsticks swirl into a meditative pattern. Primary-coloured blocks stand rigid, disrupted by scattered Skittles. A psychedelic teapot pulses against a technicolor grid. Each image shifts perception, revealing the extraordinary within the everyday.

Opening hours for Jacky Winter Gallery are Wednesday to Friday from 11am to 6pm, and midday to 5pm on Saturdays.
