William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize 2024

Over the last 19 years, the Bowness Photography Prize has emerged as an important annual survey of contemporary photographic practice in Australia and one of the most respected prizes in the country.

With large-scale installations through to meticulous daguerreotypes, the shortlisted works canvass sculptural, digital and analogue photography. The pool of finalists demonstrates the expansive and captivating range of creative photographic work being made in Australia today.

Canberra: 27 Feb until 20 July 2025. The National Library has invited renowned Australian photojournalist Mike Bowers to select some of his favourite images from the Fairfax Photo Archive.

Canberra; June 19 - July 12 2025. The River Report is a five-day map of when a normal Yitilal (wet season) turned into a major disaster and the local inhabitants were once again displaced.
