Salt by Murray Fredericks

Lake Eyre has proved, over the years, to be a continuous source of inspiration for Murray Fredericks. His films and photographs on the subject have been the source of multiple exhibitions and won numerous awards.

The Salt series was produced over numerous trips to Lake Eyre, in South Australia, where he would spend weeks at a time, alone, waiting for the right conditions for his photographs and films. Fredericks is an artist who goes to extraordinary lengths to satisfy his vision. It is a kind of spiritual journey as a platform for his work. He achieves this by driving himself to often-brutal physical and mental challenges. The exhibition consists of five works never before seen in Sydney.

Fredericks has emerged over the last five years as one of the most important and widely known photographers/filmmakers in Australia with an international following. He has had extraordinary responses to his work overseas from both critics and collectors, especially in London, Paris, and the United States.
