New City by Jeremy McPherson

New City is an innovative contemporary photography series depicting urban architecture as unique abstract forms finished with refined digital art techniques.

Jeremy McPherson’s series explores the mixed emotions of uncertainty and hope associated with transporting one’s life to another city and beginning afresh.

About the artist

Photographer and digital artist, Jeremy McPherson is a recent graduate of Melbourne Polytechnic (Diploma of Photography & Photo Imaging), completing two years of full-time study in December 2017.

His work covers the realms of both photography and digital art, being equally passionate towards both of these processes, and explaining it as his direction in study. Influences for his work aesthetic are drawn from art and colour theory and camera composition and capture.

Jeremy McPherson likes to work on each of his photographic pieces individually, like paintings of photography.

During his two years of full time study, he was accepted as a Finalist in The Brisbane Art Prize in 2016 & 2017 for his portraits and won an Endeavour Award by The Australian Federal Government and Melbourne Polytechnic to undertake a Photography study Tour to Japan in 2017.

Upon graduation, McPherson moved his life to Brisbane to be free with his camera from past influences and to start afresh. This move led to the creation of the New City series, and his recent acceptance as a Finalist in the Stanthorpe Art Prize 2018.

His future is to explore his mind and technical skill together.
