AIlsa Bernard, Who needs to fly? (ANIMAL 2023)
I was disabused of my limited understanding about penguins. I had always pictured in my mind penguins on land, waddling awkwardly and having difficulty getting from place to place. That was until I recently saw them for myself in their natural environment. They are most 'at home' in the water. They move with grace and precision. They are white on their bellies so any predator looking up from below sees a white form in the light, whilst their dark backs protect them from predators above the water as they look down into the dark depths of the water.
