Ailsa Bernard, White Terns (ANIMAL 2022)

The white terns lay a single egg on a branch, not in a nest. If there isn't a hollow in the branch apparently they chip away at the bark until they hit the sap which acts like glue to hold the egg on the branch. Once the chick has hatched, the parents gather fish to find the young which swallow the fish whole.
