ChengZhou Li, Urban Wings (ART 2026)

Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge are a magnificent masterpiece of human civilization engraved on the coastline. And seagulls are the elegant yet playful vivid spirits of this city. This series portrays seagulls as witnesses and co-inhabitants of the city’s ecology. Roosting, calling, and taking flight in the heart of human civilization, they express the symbiotic relationship between nature and the city through their delicate presence. In the gentle light of the blue hour, a seagull’s cry is not a performance, but the vibrant pulse of a healthy urban ecosystem. Its wingbeat is not an appearance on stage, but a tender response to human civilization. These photographs capture more than just a moment of a single bird; they are poetic evidence of a city reconciling with nature. This work is shot on location, without image compositing or added elements. Only basic adjustments to light and color have been made.
