Venkatesh Kittur, The Pollinator’s Dance (ANIMALS 2026)
Blue-banded bees are among Australia’s most striking native pollinators, their metallic blue bands flashing in the light as they hover with remarkable precision. Solitary by nature, they rely on speed and agility to forage, performing the specialized act of buzz pollination to release pollen hidden deep within flowers. This series captures a sequence of fleeting moments—awareness, approach, and interaction—revealing both the beauty and purpose of their flight. In these brief encounters, the bee becomes more than a subject; it becomes a symbol of the fragile systems that sustain life. Often unnoticed, these small pollinators play a critical role in maintaining biodiversity and ecological balance. Their presence is a quiet reminder that even the smallest creatures hold immense importance within the natural world.
