Davide Conti, The Patch: Identity and Integrity (DOCO 2026)
The Patch is an intimate documentary study of the Mongrel Mob in Napier, Aotearoa. As New Zealand's largest and most notorious gang, the Mob exists at a complex intersection of Māori tribal identity and deep social marginalization. Moving beyond the headlines, this series explores the duality of life 'under the patch'—balancing the grit of a notorious subculture with the quiet reality of whānau (family) and brotherhood. Through high-contrast monochrome, the work seeks to strip away political noise to focus on the raw humanity and cultural resilience of a community often seen but rarely understood.
