Luke French, The End of The Road (SINGLE SHOT 2025)
Before moving to Australia, my mum and I decided to go for a road trip around our home country, New Zealand, to ensure we had made the most of our time there. I was told about a glacier near Mt Cook and I was determined to photograph it at sunrise, so I woke mum up at 4 am on our morning at Mt Cook, and together we set off on a hike to get there... but were immediately stumped by a fork in the trail with no signs. The sun was quickly rising, so we had to guess which way the glacier was. We just started running as fast as we could, crossing our fingers that it was the right one. Just as I thought we'd chosen the wrong path, we came out on the most beautiful landscape I'd ever seen. I managed to pull out my film camera in time for the last of the sunrise, and then enjoyed looking out over the glacier with my mum in a country I won't get to explore again in a long while. I hope I never forget it.
