Karen Woulfe, The Cicada (ANIMAL 2022)

During a trip to the Cattai Wetlands NSW I watched as the parent Woodswallow attempted to feed a cicada to one of the babies. The ensuing squabble of the sibling and inability of the baby to swallow the large food gift was amusing to watch, The parent tried numerous tines to feed the baby but the offering was simply too large. The end result was that the for dropped into the wetlands below and the sibling was left screaming for food.
