Cheryl Waring, Snow gums in thaw (LANDSCAPE 2021)
As if awakening from their bed of snow, the gums display their vibrant colours in celebration of the start of Spring. Their limbs outstretched in a welcoming embrace as Spring’s warming light releases them from frozen slumber. Snow gums compared to other gums could be alien to the rest of the bush just from their sheer beauty, their trunks look like bodies lying over granite rock while resting in the sunlight with their branches posed in a stretching or reaching out position.
