Heather Smith, Shimmer and Silk (SINGLE SHOT 2026)
This ranunculus wasn't following the rules. Random flashes of orange on some petals, deep burgundy bleeding into bright red, vibrant magenta at the edges. Not how they usually look, which is exactly why it went into the studio. I was working through the shots, adjusting lighting, watching how it played across all that texture, when a small spider crawled out onto the petals and positioned herself perfectly on the rule of thirds line. White against all that deep red, sitting there like she'd been waiting for her moment the entire time.
