Nikki Russian, Rachel (and Vivienne) (Portrait 2020)
This series was created in response to the hypocritical structures of patriarchy, the social repression of female sexuality and the policing of women’s bodies. From Rachel: "These photos show the life of a mother behind closed doors. The love. The chaos. The happiness. The challenges. I appreciate that I’m wearing very little but there’s nothing sexual about these photos. There’s everything about being a mother and being judged for your decisions. I am enough and deserve to take up space, as I am. And if that involves not modestly covering myself, then so be it. Other people’s opinions and perceptions of me are their business, and this is mine."
