Geoff Treagus, Loss, Grief, & Recovery, part 2 (PEOPLE 2025)
As I discussed in more depth, in my submission 'Loss, Grief, & Recovery, part 1', this is from a larger series of work, and one with which I really wanted to produce something that narrated a story or series of events people often go through when dealing with loss, grief, and recovery. With the permission of the author, Lynda Parker, I include the following thoughts, which relate well to the wider range of photos, including what's on display here : "When the air suddenly goes out of the room, and you feel emptiness where your best friend or loved one filled your heart. Grief comes in all shapes, it doesn't discriminate between race, religion or culture. But we all progress through it differently. Some get writer's block, others travel great distances to find themselves - only to find they didn't need to go all that far. The wing of the translucent butterfly or the brilliance of the flower can settle the heart a little, and begin the healing needed... however it's just the beginning, as grief takes time, patience and courage to work through... ...and sometimes, it doesn't seem to leave. However you hold a special place in your heart and soul for that person (or maybe pet), which makes living without them easier." I sincerely thank Lynda for her input to add to this. It compliments my work well! For these photos I used a Canon M6 camera, layered exposures for one of the photos, and paint for the others. Oh, and a good deal of borrowed lace.
