GRAHAM EARNSHAW, Lakeshore Beauty (ANIMAL 2021)
Part of a series I captured earlier this year, prior to the winter rains, at pretty little Lake Gwelup series focusing on some of the beautiful birdlife of the lake...for me by far the most stunning are the delicate little Black-winged Stilts, as they wade in the very shallow waters looking for a feed at dinnertime (bugs of any sort, or shrimp if they're really dining out). Another under-rated bird is the Hoary Headed Grebe, which I manage to capture resting on a broken branch in the shallow serene waters.
