Lesley Bretherton, Lago Sarmiento (LANDSCAPE 2026)
Set within Torres del Paine National Park in the remote Magallanes Region, Lago Sarmiento is a striking and otherworldly landscape shaped by both history and geology. It is distinguished by its pale, mineral-rich shoreline, where intricate formations of calcium carbonate—known as thrombolites—trace the water’s edge. These sculptural deposits, likely influenced by ancient hydrothermal activity, lend the scene a textured, almost prehistoric quality.
