Luke David, Kioi Seido B&W (BLACK & WHITE 2026)

Designed by Hiroshi Naito for the Japanese RINRI Institute of Ethics, and completed in 2021, this building was designed with no purpose. The brief from the client was that “The functions will be considered according to what has been done, so please design as you like.” The building is rarely open to the public, apart from a brief period this year (until Sep 30) as it hosts an exhibition of the architect’s sketches and workings. These images are of attendees at the exhibition, photographed in high contrast using pools of light from the grid of roof skylights.
