Brenton Cheung, Kicking Up Dust at the Canberra Rally (SINGLE SHOT 2026)
I'd always enjoyed playing Sega Rally as a child and it's also what inspired me to make my first car purchase a Toyota Celica. I was totally unaware that we had rally events in Australia close to major cities until I spotted a poster at the office in Canberra for the Australian Rally Championships. At a track less than an hours' drive away from the centre of Canberra, I witnessed dozens of cars compete in timed laps for the Canberra Rally trophy. There was a surprising range of competitors in old and new vehicles, but the star of the show for me was really this Toyota GR Yaris - it sounded incredible and was a marvel to watch as it kicked up dust at every corner.
