Peter Sharp, Jump (Documentary/Photojournalism (ATEP 2017))

Capturing the energy of a live music performance is not only a lot of fun, but a great challenge, as the photographer has no control over the light that is available.    There are a number of different images that I look to capture when shooting every show, and one of those is a jump shot. There is no better way to capture the energy and passion that a musician puts into their performance than with the jump shot, and every photographer who shoots live music looks for that elusive shot because it is never easy to capture. When I see a jump through my lens, I am never quite sure whether or not I was quick enough to capture it in focus. This selection of images is of jump shots which I have taken recently. I remember capturing each of these and the feeling I got immediately afterwards, hoping I had nailed it.
