Codie Lehmann, 'Howler in the Humidity (ANIMALS 2026)

A midday hike through the dense, humidity-soaked trails of the Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge led to an unexpected encounter. In the thick coastal jungle, I came across a troop of Howler Monkeys moving quietly along the trail. One male had separated from the group, pausing just long enough to step into a perfect composition. Backlit by the harsh midday sun, the heavy humidity in the air caught the light, creating a soft, glowing haze around him.
