NOLA VICKERY, FOLLOW THE LEADER (SINGLE SHOT 2026)
In Chobe NP, Botswana, I witnessed a procession of elephants crossing the Chobe River. The leader took time to carefully choose a relatively calm part, but in places it was quite deep. I marvelled at the care taken by the elders of the herd to ensure the safety of the little ones. The youngest was about 12 months old and was struggling with the conditions - at times becoming completely submerged. However, Mum knew what to do and gently guided the infant with her massive trunk.
