Mary Jo Gomez-Jackson, Enchanted Garden (ART 2025)

Enchanted Garden is a series of images that I have been creating since the start of 2025. It is a purposeful and intentional approach to create magic and enchantment in this portfolio. My love for spring bulbs led me to create this series. The flowers are all from my garden. The images were all photographed on a light-pad to render a clean white background and to achieve diffused lighting and transparency. The flowers within this portfolio include Ranunculus, Papaver, Anemone and Poppies. When selecting the flowers, my focus was on the flower colour harmony, from delicate pink representing friendship, the vibrant yellow for devotion, and red for love and passion. I consciously arranged the flowers for elegance, including grass, weeds and plant leaves to achieve a harmonious composition to show natural environmental settings. The flowers were photographed using multiple exposures with the intention of blending the images in post processing. To achieve the “enchanted garden” visual story, I carefully selected textures which consisted of my own images of bokeh to give the dreamlike ethereal quality, background colour balance of blue, green and pink for harmonious blending. I combined multiple images, using various blend modes and opacities. My approach to post processing in Adobe Photoshop were executed with an intention of creating images that achieve painterly aesthetic impression and my artistic interpretation of the “Enchanted Garden”.
