John Debrincat, Eddie The Biker! (Doco/Photojournalism (2018))

I first met Eddie in the Ulysses Motor Cycle Club, in 2007. Eddie immediately stood out from many of the other bikers, he looked the same as the rest of the gang, but as soon as he spoke, I was enthralled and captivated with his colourful, positive character. Eddie was described to me as a “Man who wears his heart on his sleeve”. Our friendship quickly developed, in and out of the Motorcycle Club. Eddie was a professional boxer in the Australian Army in the 1950's, where he won most of his professional fights. Eddie was married and owned his home, in Williamstown, Victoria. One day, after coming home from a 3-month stint working away in the Mines, in South Australia, Eddie found his wife in bed with another man. Eddie could have easily given the guy a thrashing, but decided to leave his wife, with her new lover behind and has spent the past 30 years of his life, living in the local Caravan Park. A famous author; "Napoleon Hill" once said; "Every adversity, every failure, every heartache, carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit." Eddie grew closer to his younger brother, joined the Ulysses Motor Cycle Club, enjoying the camaraderie and road trips with the Club. He also took up oil-painting and photography. Eddie is living an exciting - full life!
