Peter Mellows, Disappearing Tarn (LANDSCAPE 2022)

The Disappearing Tarn, on kunanyi/Mt Wellington, Tasmania, fills after extended heavy rain or snowfalls and quickly drains over the course of a few days. The water is naturally turquoise due to the leeching of minerals as the water flows through the rocks. Since becoming popularised in social media, the challenge has been to photograph it in new ways. This series of photographs was taken mid-November 2021 in the blue hour at the end of the day.
