Amanda Delaforce, Chameleons of the Sea - Mesmerising (ANIMAL 2022)

Thousands of giant cuttlefish gather each winter in the shallow waters of South Australia’s Upper Spencer Gulf for their once-in-a-lifetime spawning. Giant Cuttlefish courtship behaviour is so complex and interesting, the males put on an impressive show of stripes and fluorescent colours and have adapted a number of behavioural strategies to successfully reproduce. Males can display courtship signals to females on one side while simultaneously showing female-like displays with the other side to stop rival males interfering in their courtship. It really is a spectacle show! *Photos taken in 2021.
