The many piers, wharves, and jetties that line the southern Australian coastline may once have powered the industry above the surface. Today, the pylons that hold them up tell a different story below. Encrusted with fixed filter feeders and surrounded by fish seeking shelter, these structures have become quiet sanctuaries, offering safe refuge for countless marine species beneath the bustle of life above.
