Ngaire Hart, Antipodes Island (Subantartica) (LANDSCAPE 2025)
This island is like a knuckle bone sent sprawling by a clumsy geological hand on the East of the Bounty Platyform, 750 km south of the South Island of New Zealand. No landings are allowed on this World Heritage listed, vulnerable island, that we viewed in December, from a zodiac. The basalt rocks are volcanic and have weird and wonderful vents as well as a diverse array of bull kelp. A dark and moody place of beauty.
