A family comes together and a father guides his son to the Torres Strait Islander shaving ceremony marking a boy’s transition to manhood. His Awadhes (uncles) perform the first shave of his beard symbolising his new status as an adult and passing on cultural knowledge declaring the young man’s new role and responsibilities.
