Geri Milne, A Zoo in My Luggage (TRAVEL 2026)

Many people travel to see animals and wildlife as much as landscapes or buildings. Photographing animals within their environment enables us to reveal not only the creatures themselves but the human societies in which they live or the unique natural landscapes which they inhabit. These three images show flamingos flying past skyscapers under construction in Dubai, an Icelandic horse as soulful as its desolate marshland environment, and a tired tethered donkey at a 'donkey carpark' in Morocco. These are sights I could never have seen by staying at home! For me, they evoke the spirit of the places which I was fortunate to visit.
