Capture's biggest edition of the year, The Annual, is out now. A celebration of the best imagery shot over the last 12 months, we showcase inspiring work by professionals, emerging, and student photographers from Australia and around the world, across 10 categories. A huge congratulations to all whose images appear in this very special edition. Capture accepts submissions for The Annual each year from July to August.

The edition also features in-depth articles on the state of the photographic industry across the advertising, editorial, and wedding and portrait genres. We share the opinions and insights of leading photographers across the globe.

This year, an image by British advertising and commercial photographer and director Nicky Hamilton graces the cover – without a doubt some of the most coveted real estate the publication has to offer. A former Head of Art at leading advertising agency M&C Saatchi, Hamilton has won countless international awards for his photography. His method is highly filmic, designing and creating pictures of extraordinary detail and narrative. Hamilton's work explores characters’ emotional states by playing with performance and symbolism in order to produce deeply evocative moods. He created Ice Scream to raise awareness of global warming and climate change by capturing the essence of a very near-future British day at the seaside.

This pollen almost certainly came from one of two species of mint plants that live, like the imperilled blue calamintha bee, in Florida’s dwindling scrub regions, and on which the bees rely. Art category.
