The Annual 2021 - out now!
The Annual is a celebration of the best imagery shot over the last 12 months. In it, we share work across 10 categories. Capture accepts submissions for The Annual each year from July to August.
This year, an image by Canadian photographer Ian Ross Pettigrew graces the cover – without a doubt some of the most coveted real estate the publication has to offer. Pettigrew got his start in advertising. Now, he combines both art direction and photography for his clients. Madonna and bird was produced during COVID lockdown and features his live-in muse and girlfriend, who also appears in a number of his other works. This is a homage to one of his favourites, Pierre et Gilles.
The Annual features articles taking an in-depth look at the photographic industry and how it's weathered the storms over the last 12 months across adverting, editorial, and wedding and portrait. We also showcase hundreds of breath-taking images from professional, emerging, and student photographers from across Australia and around the globe.
