Synology has introduced two new DiskStation models, the DS1825+ and DS725+, aimed at providing scalable storage solutions suitable for businesses, creative professionals, and home offices.

The 8-bay DS1825+ is built to support data management and collaboration needs in business settings,” said Jeffrey Huang, product manager at Synology. “It offers a combination of performance, scalability, and reliability.”

“The smaller 2-bay DS725+ brings similar flexibility to smaller environments,” added Anya Lin, also a product manager. “It’s a compact system suited to home offices, edge deployments, and small teams.”

Performance and Expansion Options

The DS1825+ is an 8-bay system with dual 2.5GbE ports and two M.2 NVMe slots, which can be used for SSD caching or creating an all-flash storage pool. A PCIe 3.0 expansion slot allows for optional 10/25GbE network upgrades. With SSDs, the system supports read speeds up to 2,239 MB/s and write speeds up to 1,573 MB/s. It also supports up to two 5-bay DX525 expansion units, enabling up to 360 TB of raw storage¹.

The DS725+ is a 2-bay model that supports one DX525 expansion unit, scaling up to 140 TB of raw storage. It includes one 2.5GbE port, one 1GbE port, and two M.2 NVMe slots for SSD cache or high-speed storage configurations.

Both models are compatible with Synology hard drives and are designed for consistent performance and long-term operation. A compatibility list is maintained based on extensive testing, and compatible drives are required for DSM installation.
