At Capture, we get a large assortment of pitches, product offers and odd questions via email. Some are off topic, others are photographers pitching ideas for stories or companies selling interesting or even bizarre concepts.

This week we received an email touting new 'face anonymisation' software that generates new identities within existing photos.

So why would anyone need this? Just say you were about to market a new soft drink that was to be sold throughout the world. Localisation, or the shooting of products to suit different cultures and countries can cost corporations a pretty penny. For each region, you'd have to hire the talent, photographer, art designer and crew. On top of the production time and costs – there would be the usage rights for the photographers and models.

With PiktID AI software, theoretically you could do one shoot and then alter the appearance of the models to suit any region.

As the press release states - by using this product you can achieve:

  • Commercial use of photos without the need for model release forms.
  • Achieve a worldwide campaign with only one photo shoot, optimizing resources and reducing costs.
  • Avoid the use of overused and generic stock photo models, enhancing the uniqueness and authenticity of visual content.
