Head On 2025 winners announced

The winners of the 2025 Head On Photo Awards have been announced, revealing some extraordinary works that exemplify visual storytelling, human resilience, and innovative perspectives.

The festival's top honours were awarded to Lívia Peres (Portrait) for The World Burns Gently, Liam Man (Landscape) for Ring of Fire and Ice, and Abdelrahman Alkahlout (Exposure) for Faith Amidst Genocide.

The judging panel also recognised a deep field of talent among the runners-up. The Australian runners-up are Chrystal de Louise (Portrait), Harald Helle (Landscape), and Guy Templeton (Exposure). International runners-up include Natascha Tahabsem (Portrait), Kelly Conlin (Landscape), and Viet Van (Exposure).

A new award was introduced this year called the Mayor of Waverley’s Prize for the best exhibition. This year, Mayor Will Nemesh selected Gavin Libotte’s Wanderland, which is on display along the Bondi promenade throughout the Festival.

The Head On Photo Festival 2025 runs from 8–30 November at venues including the Bondi Pavilion, Bondi Beach, and Paddington Reservoir Garden.
