It's rare to be genuinely surprised by a new innovation these days, but this new mini speedlight from Godox is a really great idea.

The new Godox iT32 is a compact flash that pairs with interchangeable X5 bases, allowing it to work across five major camera brands (currently Fujifilm, Sony, Nikon, Canon, and Olympus). You can snap the flash on for on-camera direct / bounced lighting or detach it instantly for wireless off-camera freedom. This entire system maintains full TTL/HSS functionality, features touchscreen control, and integrates perfectly with the existing Godox 2.4GHz system.

With a guide number of 18 (compared to GN60 on pro-level speedlights), this flash isn't meant for shooting all-day weddings. Instead, it’s designed for casual, fun use, and its appeal is its tiny size – the flash weighs only 169g, and the X5 base trigger is a measly 23g. Plus, given that even lower-tiered cameras can easily shoot at 3200 ISO, a GN18 is still highly effective for many situations.

The system is powered by two separate batteries – a 900mAh battery in the iT32 flash and a 100mAh battery in the X5 trigger. It delivers a quick 1.5-second recycle time at full 1/1 output and offers approximately 510 flashes per charge.

The box includes a standard diffuser, a tungsten-balanced (orange) filter, and a small hot-shoe stand. Optional accessories will also be available, including a set of magnetic coloured gel attachments and a wide-angle diffuser.

No local pricing has been announced, but the iT32 retails for US$79 (AU$125) and the trigger is US$25 (AU$40) overseas.
