Godox announces new super affordable monobloc studio lights

Godox has announced the Australian release of the SKIII–V Studio Flash Series, featuring the updated SK300III-V and SK400III-V models. These monobloc units are designed as highly affordable (sub $260) lighting solutions equipped with the industry-standard Bowens mount.

The series is specifically tailored for small- to medium-sized studios and e-commerce teams requiring reliable, repeatable lighting that is compatible with a vast range of light modifiers.

The primary update in the SKIII-V generation is the upgraded control panel and display. A nice inclusion that makes this budget series stand out is the 10W adjustable modelling light, which offers an adjustable brightness range from 5% to 100%.

Technical Specifications and Performance

The series offers two power levels to suit different studio requirements: 300Ws for the SK300III-V and 400Ws for the SK400III-V. Both models maintain a stable colour temperature of 5600K.

Key specifications include:

  • Guide Number: 58 (SK300III-V) and 65 (SK400III-V) at ISO 100.

  • Power Adjustment: 1/32 to 1/1 (5 stops range in 0.1 increments).

  • Recycle Time: 0.1 to 1.5 seconds.

  • Flash Duration: 1/200 – 1/380s (SK300III-V) and 1/170 – 1/260 (SK400III-V)

  • Wireless Integration: Built-in Godox 2.4G wireless X system, compatible with the X series flash triggers, including the new X3 Pro.

Market positioning and cost comparison

The SKIIIV series is positioned for users who prioritise manual reliability and value over high-end automation. In the Australian market, the SK300III-V and SK400III-V retail between approximately $219 and $259 respectively.

When compared to premium industry standards like the incredible AC powered Profoto D30 Monolight, which retails for approximately $3,495 – $3,679 in Australia, the price difference is substantial.

While the Profoto offers advanced features like TTL and 'action arresting' High-Speed Sync (HSS), the Godox SKIIIV series provides the essential power and consistency required for standard product and portrait photography at roughly 7% of the cost per unit.

The Godox SKIII-V pricing allows Australian e-commerce teams to kit out a complete four-light studio for significantly less than the price of a single high-end strobe.
