Documentary on Pete Souza to be released soon

A documentary on former Chief Official White House Photographer for President Obama and the Director of the White House photo office, Pete Souza, will soon be released by Focus Features. The Way I See It is described as an “unprecedented look behind the scenes of two of the most iconic Presidents in American History, Barack Obama and Ronald Reagan, as seen through the eyes of renowned photographer Pete Souza”.

The documentary is based on Souza’s latest book, Shade: A Tale of Two Presidents. Released in 2018, the book debuted at #1 on The New York Times bestseller list. The book is a portrait in Presidential contrasts, telling the tale of the Obama and Trump administrations through a series of visual juxtapositions. Featuring more than 100 of Souza's images of President Obama, they deliver new power and meaning when framed by the tweets, news headlines, and quotes that defined the first 500 days of the Trump White House.

According to the documentary’s trailer description, “As Official White House Photographer, Souza was an eyewitness to the unique and tremendous responsibilities of being the most powerful person on Earth. The movie reveals how Souza transforms from a respected photojournalist to a searing commentator on the issues we face as a country and a people.”
