Canon announces EOS R6 Mark III and RF 45mm f/1.2 STM lens
Canon has announced the EOS R6 Mark III and a new RF 45mm f/1.2 STM lens, expanding its mirrorless camera lineup for photo and video users.
The EOS R6 Mark III is aimed at photographers working across subjects including sport, wildlife, events and portraiture.
The camera features a newly developed 32.5-megapixel full frame sensor, 40fps electronic shutter, and an expanded buffer that can record up to 150 RAW images when using CFexpress cards.
Canon says the model offers updated autofocus tracking, improved connectivity and a weather-sealed design.
The camera records 7K RAW Light video up to 60p, oversampled 4K 60p, and 4K 120p. Full HD footage up to 180fps is also supported.
Video-focused tools include waveform monitoring, full-size HDMI, proxy recording, metadata tagging and four-channel audio. An Open Gate mode allows full-sensor capture for flexible framing and post-production.
Other features include an ISO ceiling of 64,000, up to 8.5 stops of image stabilisation, in-camera cropping options, dual card slots (CFexpress Type B and UHS-II SD), and 5GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1.
Alongside the camera, Canon has announced the RF 45mm f/1.2 STM. Weighing less than 350g, it is Canon’s lightest RF lens with an f/1.2 aperture.
The lens uses STM autofocus and is positioned as an option for users looking for shallow depth of field and low-light performance without the cost of an L-series lens.
The EOS R6 Mark III has an RRP of $4,299 and the RF 45mm f/1.2 STM of $699, relatively affordable for such fast glass.
