Call for sumissions for US$20,000 Alexia Grant

The call for submissions for the Alexia Professional and Student Grants opens on 14 September, with a deadline of 5 October set for the 2020 competition. The grants help visual journalists produce projects that inspire change by addressing topics that are socially significant. Given the impact of the pandemic on those in the visual storytelling profession, organisers have reduced the entry fee from US$50 to US$20, and the grant money may now be spent on whatever the recipient deems to be most necessary, as opposed to the expectation that it to go toward producing a proposed project.

The recipient of The Alexia Professional Grant will receive US$20,000 for the production of the proposed project, or, this year, to be used as the recipient deems most appropriate. The recipient of The Alexia Student Grant will receive a fellowship for tuition and student fees to enroll in three courses during a semester at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School along with a US$1,000 stipend. They will also assume the paid position of research assistant for The Alexia director at The Newhouse School during the semester.
