Apart from being crowned Australia’s Professional Photographer of the Year, Saad has also walked away with the title of Australia’s Professional Advertising Photographer of the Year, She receives $20,000 in cash and prizes, while category winners each receive $1,000 in cash.

To be eligible for the title of AIPP Australian Professional Photographer of the Year, category winners have their work assessed by a panel of experts to determine the overall winner. Innovation, content, creativity, technical excellence and impact are the key criteria when the images are judged at this final stage.

The APPA have been held annually for the past 40 years, and are the only professional photography awards in the country that require physical prints to be submitted for judging. More than 580 entrants submitted a total of almost 2,200 images to be judged as part of the AIPP APPAs. The 2016 awards were peer-judged anonymously over three days by some of Australia’s most recognised photographers. The most poular categoires were Portrait, Landscape, Illustrative, and Wedding.
