Bose SoundLink Flex

A recent addition to the Bose SoundLink Bluetooth speaker family is the SoundLink Flex. Ideal for photographers shooting on location where high-quality sound is a must, the rugged portable speaker not only promises Bose technologies to deliver deep, clear sound, the new proprietary Bose PositionIQ technology will automatically detect the speaker’s orientation, so regardless of whether the SoundLink Flex is upright, hanging, or flat on its back, it will be optimised to produce great sound. As well as this, Bose states that their proprietary digital signal processing (DSP) technology dramatically minimises distortion so you hear natural, full sound.

With its IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating, along with a rugged and resilient design a featuring soft silicone back and powder-coated steel grille, the Flex has solid protection against accidental drops and bumps. And if it inadvertently finds itself knocked into a pool or the ocean, it will float to the water’s surface.

The Flex measures 20cm wide, 5.3cm deep, and 9.1cm high, and weighs just over 450g. On a full charge of the lithium-ion battery, Bose says you can enjoy up to 12 hours of battery life so you’re covered for even the longest shoot days on location. What’s more, the built-in microphone means that you can take phone calls, while USB-C charging adds an extra layer of convenience. And if you own other Bose Bluetooth speakers, you can easily pair using Party Mode for simultaneous music playback or Stereo Mode for left-right channel output.

The SoundLink Flex comes in a variety of colours, including a limited-edition Carmine Red, and has an RRP of $249.
