Australasia’s Top Emerging Photographer awards recognise, encourage, and promote talented photographers in the early stages of their photographic careers.

Entrants must have less than four years’ experience working full time as a professional photographer. Entrants with no experience working as a professional photographer are also welcome to enter. Those entering the Student category must have been enrolled at a recognised college or university at the time the entered images were created.
Images must have been created on or after 1 January 2016.

For each entry, you will need to submit a portfolio of six images relevant to the category.
You may enter multiple categories, and/or the same category multiple times.
The total prize pool for the competition is valued at more than $17,000, including a cash prize of $3,000 to the overall winner.
The overall winner, Australasia's Top Emerging Photographer will also receive a Fujifilm X-Pro2 & XF 35mm f/2 lens valued at $3,298.
Category winners will share in a prize pool of over $7,000, including a cash prize of $450 per category winner.
• Please ensure images are free of text and logos. This includes advertising copy and watermarks. Images with advertising copy or watermarks will not be shortlisted.
The STUDENT category is open to current students of photography, in full- or part-time study at university or a recognised photography college. Images created on or after 1 January 2016 and shot by recently graduated students are also acceptable.
Images commissioned by a client, taken at a wedding or civil ceremony. Images must not be composites.
The initial pool of entries will be reduced to a shortlist by staff of Yaffa Media’s photographic magazines. Leading professional photographers will judge the shortlist and select the category winners and the overall winner, Australasia's Top Emerging Photographer 2018.
Winners and runners up will be announced on the website capturemag.com.au and published in the May/June 2018 edition of Capture magazine in print and the online edition.
All entrants to the 2018 Australia's Top Emerging Photographers competition will receive special discount pricing on 2018 Capture Live, a half-day live event in Sydney in August 2018, featuring a line-up of some of Australia's top professional photographers.
In 2018, Australasia's Top Emerging Photographers will recognise the work of more emerging photographers than ever before. As well as winners, runners up and top five or top ten portfolios, this year photographers whose work makes the shortlist will be recognised as 'commended' or 'highly commended', with highly commended photographers being those that have been awarded points by the judging panel.
