Peter Squires, Van Diemen's Land (Landscape (2018))

These photographs are from an ongoing series called ’Van Diemen’s Land’. The series is about the transportation of convicts to Tasmania’s penal colony, exploring themes of isolation, loss and hope. I am drawn to create images of twilight into the darkness and still of night while exploring the relationship between the human psyche and the natural world. I hope to evoke a powerful sense of mystery and invite contemplation.
