Nima Porkar, Life in Adelaide (Student (2019))

My photographs are stories about daily life experiences on the streets, representing our society‘s realistic nature. I want to show the flow of life in my hometown of Adelaide, from my point of view through the lens of a camera. My work explores themes of cultural identity, city life and multiculturalism. I am specifically interested in the changing face of Adelaide, the ebb and flow of new cultures as they mingle, merge and challenge each other as they come in contact. When I photograph, I try to see details, movements, and something extraordinary in ordinary life. Something with the significant gesture, unexpected beauty and individual’s interactions. My ideal is capturing the perfect combination of action and reaction in a fraction of a second. I hope my photographs show something about our lives, and no more.
