Steve Day, Gazing Upwards (Architecture (2019))

This series of images includes some familiar and some less seen instances of Melbourne architecture. Each image attempts to highlight the beauty of the shapes and forms that collude to create the structures that enclose, contain and house us. In a world where we are constantly looking down, isolated and absorbed in ourselves, I choose to look up; at the geometric shapes that surround us. When we divert our gaze upwards we see a plethora of rectilinear forms and appreciate the prominence of architecture in modern society.
