Fujifilm XF30mm f/2.8 R LM WR macro lens

Fujifilm’s newest lens, the XF30mm f/2.8 R LM WR macro, designed for the X Series mirrorless digital cameras, is compact and lightweight that can produce 1:1 magnification at a distance of 10cm from the subject. However, it can also operate as close as 1.2cm from a subject, when 1:1 margination isn’t required.

The 30mm lens is equivalent to 46mm in the 35mm film format and boasts a substantially reduced minimum working distance and greatly improved close-up performance compared to conventional standard lenses. Besides its impressive macro performance, the lens is also a great choice for portrait photography.

The XF 30mm consists of 11 elements in nine groups, including three aspherical elements and two ED elements. The lens also uses the Inner Focus system, in which a linear motor drives the focusing group of elements, to deliver fast and highly accurate AF. The focusing operation is quiet and smooth even for close-ups, which involves large movement of focusing elements.

Weighing just 195g, the lens barrel is weather-sealed in nine places so that it is dust and weather resistant, and can operate in temperatures as low as -10° Celsius.

The lens has an RRP of $1,129.
