  • JUDGES’ COMMENTS<br/>
“Being able to see past the obvious and capture form,
shape and texture sets the best work apart from merely
technically-competent work.”
<br /><br />
“Some of the entries, although technically good, felt soulless
and relied too heavily on Photoshop or post-processing
effects to create the mood. They felt like they were postcard
images. The strongest images were far more ethereal and
created an ambiance that felt like it had a narrative, and,
by doing so, created a deeper meaning to the images.”
<br /><br />
“I am looking for images that demonstrate not only
technical excellence, but that also evoke an emotional
response in the viewer - images that challenge the viewer
and make them stop and think”
<br /><br />
“When I’m looking at a landscape, I want to be transported.
I want to feel some emotion or connection to the place. The
images that stood out were the bodies of work where the
artist had really applied their signature to the work.”

The ocean provides Deb Morris with
inspiration; colours, varying shapes and
textures. No wave is ever the same. Her
passion for photography has spanned
three decades, yet she has only decided
to make it a career recently. Capturing
fleeting moments and things that cannot
be repeated is the driver for Morris’
passion in photography.
