Infranatura Exhibition by Raul O. Lejarazu Machin

Infranatura exhibition by Raul O. Lejarazu Machin, at Vandal Gallery as part of the Head On Photography Festival open program.

The exhibition will run from 10 to 30 November. Opening Night on Friday, 14 November.

Infrared photography, first developed by Kodak for the US Army during WWII, captures a spectrum of light invisible to the human eye. In 2022, I began using it to explore Australia’s landscapes, imagining how early explorers like Joseph Banks might have first seen this land.

What began as an experiment became a reflection on belonging and environmental fragility. Infranatura reveals the hidden beauty of Australia’s flora, exposing both its resilience and vulnerability, and exploring how light and perception shape our connection to nature today.

Opening night will include music and refreshments. Free Admision. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to climate action, helping to preserve the incredible environments that inspired the series.
