Nadja Arold's entry in Australasia’s Top Emerging Photographers 2021 (presented by Fujifilm), A day in the life of a sock, is a featured portfolio, and appears in the Documentary category.

"Socks are left behind everywhere in our house," Arold says. "It's a quirk of my four-year-old daughter. She takes her socks off randomly and leaves them behind in odd places. I've been documenting her sock habit because one day it will end. One day it will become one of those seemingly insignificant, yet invaluable memories of her childhood. I want to remember her quirks and the stray socks, and I want her to be able to look back on this quirk too."

Australasia's Top Emerging Photographers is the region's main platform for discovering and showcasing photographers at the outset of their careers and aspiring photographers. The competition is open to emerging, student, and amateur photographers. The prize pool currently stands at over $30,000.

Final entries close Sunday, 21 February at 11:59pm (AEDT).
